The Marcel “Mike” Drapeau Alumni Band Scholarship
Music was never just sound to Marcel “Mike” Drapeau — it was connection, discipline, joy, and service. It was the way he shaped lives, strengthened community, and expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had been given.
From his early years as a student musician to leading his own dance band, to educating generations of students throughout York County, Marcel poured himself into music. He organized festivals, conducted ensembles, directed the Alumni Band, and believed deeply that talent means little unless it is used in service to others.
The Marcel “Mike” Drapeau Alumni Band Scholarship was created to carry that spirit forward.
Each year, a $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from York County, Maine who reflects Marcel’s legacy:
- Exceptional musical talent
- Leadership within their ensemble
- A deep commitment to community service
- A desire to continue studying music at a four-year college or university
This scholarship is more than financial support. It is recognition of a young musician who understands that music is not only about performance — it is about dedication, generosity, and giving back.
