The Alumni Band of Southern Maine
The Alumni Band of Biddeford & Saco is a community concert and marching band made up of adult musicians from across Southern Maine. We rehearse weekly, perform at parades, community events, and seasonal concerts, and work to keep live band music thriving in our region.
Founded in 1989 under the direction of Marcel “Mike” Drapeau, the band continues a proud local tradition of music, friendship, and community service through performance.
About The Alumni Band
The Alumni Band began in 1989 when alumni from St. Louis High School and Thornton Academy came together to perform for their schools’ anniversary celebrations. Under the leadership of Marcel “Mike” Drapeau, those one-time reunion ensembles evolved into a permanent community band.
Today, The Alumni Band welcomes musicians from Biddeford, Saco, and the Greater Portland area. Our mission is to:
- Promote community through live concert band music
- Provide performance opportunities for adult musicians
- Support music education and young musicians
- Honor the legacy of our founder, Marcel “Mike” Drapeau
Join The Alumni Band
If you play a concert band instrument and are 18 or older, we’d love to have you join us. Many of our members are returning to their instruments after years away, while others have played continuously. All experience levels are welcome.
Rehearsals:
Tuesdays at 6:30 PM
Biddeford High School – Maplewood Avenue, Biddeford, Maine
You’re welcome to visit a rehearsal to listen, or bring your instrument and sit in to see if it’s a good fit.
