Awards Drapeau Scholarships
Congratulating our 2026 Marcel "Mike" Drapeau Alumni Band Scholarship recipients.
A multi-instrumentalist — violin, oboe, bassoon, keyboard, and voice — Alden has performed with the Portland Youth Symphony Orchestra and at MMEA All-State Festivals. He founded the TA String Trio at Thornton Academy, creating new opportunities for his peers. He will pursue Sound Recording Technology at the Ithaca College Conservatory.
An accomplished vocalist and section leader for the Chamber Singers and Treble Choir at Noble High School, Lily has performed at District One and MMEA All-State Festivals. She co-founded the Whole Note and Half Note Program for incoming 8th graders and has accumulated over 300 hours of community service. She will pursue Music Education at the University of Southern Maine.
Alden Gilg and Lily Dubois have each been awarded a $1,000 scholarship. They were selected from a competitive pool of applicants for their outstanding musical accomplishments, leadership, and commitment to serving their schools and communities. The scholarship honors the legacy of Marcel "Mike" Drapeau — a respected music educator, mentor, and lifelong supporter of music education throughout Southern Maine — recognizing graduating seniors who demonstrate excellence in music, leadership, academic achievement, and community involvement. The Alumni Band congratulates both recipients and wishes them continued success in their future academic and musical endeavors.

Founded in 1989 by Marcel "Mike" Drapeau, The Alumni Band brings together alumni, friends, and community musicians to share the joy of live concert band music across Southern Maine.

Marcel "Mike" Drapeau Scholarship
Each year, The Alumni Band awards a scholarship to a student musician planning to pursue music at a four-year college — honoring Mike's lifelong belief that music should be part of life long after graduation.
