Meet Our Conductors
Danielle Allie
Music Director & Conductor
Danielle Allie has been part of Maine’s music community for decades—as an educator, clarinetist, conductor, and passionate supporter of community arts. A graduate of the University of Southern Maine with degrees in Music Education and Clarinet Performance, Danielle has also completed two years of graduate study in performance while studying with professors from the University of Southern Maine, New England Conservatory, and the Dr. Hoch’s Konservatorium in Frankfurt, Germany.
Over the years, she has performed with well-known ensembles including the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, Maine State Ballet Orchestra, Maine Music Society, and the Portland Symphony Orchestra. Danielle has taught music both in the United States and in Europe, including eleven years as an instrumental music teacher in Biddeford.
Danielle’s connection to community band began early—joining Painchaud’s Band in Biddeford at age nine. Many of the musicians she met there are the same musicians she now leads with The Alumni Band. As conductor, she continues to inspire audiences and musicians alike, carrying forward the band’s long-standing tradition of excellence.
Tom Lizotte
Assistant Conductor
Tom Lizotte brings more than 40 years of leadership in the marching arts, jazz education, and public school music programs. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst with degrees in Music Education and Wind Conducting, Tom studied under respected mentors including Walter Chesnut, Malcolm Rowell, and George Parks.
Since 1972, Tom has taught and written for numerous drum corps, including Boston Crusaders, North Star, 27th Lancers, Cadets, Colts, and Glassmen. He is a member of three teaching halls of fame and was named National Jazz Educator of the Year by the Jazz Education Network and Berklee College of Music.
Tom recently retired after 31 years as a high school band director—seventeen of them at Cape Elizabeth High School. His experience as an adjudicator and educator across New England continues to shape young musicians today. The Alumni Band is proud to have Tom as part of our conducting leadership team.
