What Instruments Do We Need?
We're a full concert band — woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Instruments marked in gold are ones we especially need right now.

How to Join
Joining is simple — there are no forms to fill out, no auditions to pass. Here's all it takes:

We'll find you a seat, introduce you to the section, and hand you the music. No pressure — just play along and enjoy.

Do I need to audition?
▼No auditions — ever. The Alumni Band is open to adult musicians of all skill levels. Whether you're a seasoned player or just getting back into it after years away, you're welcome to join.
What if I haven't played in years?
▼Many of our members came back to their instruments after long breaks. It comes back faster than you think, and our group is supportive and encouraging. Come sit in and see how it feels — no commitment required.
Is there a membership fee?
▼There is a small annual membership dues to help cover sheet music, rehearsal space, and operating costs. Details will be provided when you come to your first rehearsal. We want music to be accessible — if dues are a concern, please reach out and we'll work with you.
Do I need to come every Tuesday?
▼We encourage regular attendance because it helps the whole band, but life happens. We ask that members do their best to attend consistently, especially in the weeks leading up to a concert. If you need to miss a rehearsal, just let us know.
Do I need to own my instrument?
▼Yes, members are expected to provide their own instruments. If you're looking to get back into playing and need help finding an instrument, email us — we may be able to point you in the right direction.
How many concerts do you perform each year?
▼We typically perform several times throughout the year — including a spring scholarship concert, summer festival appearances like La Kermesse, and our beloved annual Christmas concert. Members may also participate in parades and special community events.
Do I need to be from Biddeford or Saco?
▼Not at all. While our roots are in the Biddeford and Saco school alumni community, we welcome musicians from anywhere in Southern Maine and beyond. Community is what matters most.
